Bellardini named All-Region by NCSAA

December 9, 2008

KANSAS CITY, Kansas-- Elyse Bellardini (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) was named to the 2008 All Mid-Atlantic Region Third Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America after helping lift the Cardinals to a 10-8-2 overall record, a 4-1-1 record in the Landmark Conference, and the team's first appearance in the conference championship game.  Bellardini received this same honor in 2007, making her the first CUA women's soccer player to earn All-Region honors twice in her career.

"I am extremely proud of everything Elyse has accomplished during her soccer career at CUA.  She is one of the few four-year starters we've had in recent years, and she has always approached the game with a 'team-first' mentality from her center midfield position.  To be selected for an individual honor like the all-region team is the perfect way for Elyse to close out her senior year as a Cardinal," said head coach J.P. Sousa about the graduating senior.

Bellardini also received first team honors from the Landmark Conference after earning offensive player of the week on November 3.  Bellardini finished the season with six goals and 15 points, both among CUA leaders.
