WASHINGTON- Three consecutive goals helped propel the Catholic University women's soccer team to a decisive victory Wednesday afternoon. The win brought CUA's record to 2-2-1 on the year.

In the first half, the teams found themselves in a scoreless standstill. The first goal of the afternoon came from freshman Caroline Burke (Tuxedo Park, N.Y./Albertus Magnus), assisted by Diana Spadaro (Stony Point, N.Y./Albertus Magnus), at the 36th minute.

After the halftime period, it did not take long for the Cardinals to pick up where they left off on the offensive side of the field. Midfielder Maggie McCarthy (Portsmouth, R.I./Portsmouth Abbey) took a pass from Spadaro and snuck past the Marymount defender to tally CUA's second goal of the afternoon.

The Cardinals' final goal of the game came just minutes later, as Spadaro and McCarthy found Kelly Donnely (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City), who found the back of the net at the 61 minute mark.

CUA returns to the field for a contest at Cabrini at 1 p.m.
