Women's Soccer falls short against Montclair State

September 28, 2008

WASHINGTON, D.C.--  Maggie McCarthy's (Portsmouth, R.I./ Portsmouth Abbey) goal in the 16th minute seemed to be all the Cardinals needed Sunday until Symone Seldon came off the bench for Montclair State and knotted the game in the 79th minute followed by Natalia Sisti scoring the winning goal for Montclair State in the 85th minute.

Defensively, Tere Rossi (Annandale, Va./ Falls Church) made four saves on seven shots, while the offensive attack of the Cardinals forced the visiting keeper to make six saves on 14 shots.  Diana Spadaro (Stony Point, N.Y./ Albertus Magnus) marked a team- and game-high four shots, while McCarthy and Kelly Donnely (Garden City, N.Y./ Garden City) both notched three blasts.

CUA dominated most of the statistical categories, including corner kicks (7-1) and shots (14-7).  CUA will return to action on the road as the Cardinals will travel to Stevenson on Wednesday before traveling to Juniata for their 2008 Landmark Conference opening match Saturday, October 4th.
