Women's Soccer Blasts Christopher Newport 2-0
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.-- Courtney Orgill started the scoring early, finding the back of the net in only the eighth minute and giving CUA women's soccer a 2-0 win over Christopher Newport University at the Virginia Wesleyan tournament in Virginia Beach, Va.
It was a day for the freshmen as Ellen Jansen found Orgill cutting into the box with both getting their first career points on Orgill's driven goal. Caitlin Conroy joined the party only a few minutes into the second half when she was the recipient of a fortunate bounce off the keeper's gloves and drove the ball from the top of the box to the bottom corner of the net.
Christina Cassidy was in net for the Cardinals today but was barely tested as CNU managed only six shots forcing Cassidy to make only two saves.
CUA dominated nearly every statistic including a 23-6 advantage on shots and 10-1 on corner kicks.
The Cardinals will return to action tomorrow against host Virginia Wesleyan at 4 p.m.
