SCRANTON, Pa.- Two late second half goals proved to be the downfall of the Catholic University women's soccer team Saturday afternoon, as the squad fell to the Royals 2-0. With the loss, the Cardinals drop to 12-2 on the year, 2-1 in the Landmark Conference.

The two teams were evenly matched throughout the 90-minute battle in nearly every statistical category. CUA recorded 10 shots to Scranton's 9, and both team added five corner kick opportunities apiece. Goaltender Christina Cassidy (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks West) finished with four saves in the net for the Cardinals.

After an intense defensive battle, Scranton's Emily Farrell headed the ball in from 10 yards out midway through the second half. Christina Cognetti then advanced the ball to teammate Caila Zappala who blasted the ball into the net, giving the Royals the 2-0 advantage.

CUA now stands in third place in the Landmark Conference. The squad will return to action on October 21st, as they travel to Goucher College for a 7 p.m., contest.
