Women's Soccer Blanks Goucher, 3-0
TOWSON, Md.-- The CUA women's soccer team took 25 shots in the contest as the Cardinals dropped Goucher, 3-0 on Wednesday.
Courtney Orgill scored her team-leading 13th goal of the season while Kelly Donnelly added her ninth of the year. CUA (13-1, 3-0 LC) outshot the Gophers 25-2 in the contest, holding the hosts to only one shot in each half.
After failing to hit the mesh in the first half, Donnelly opened the second half with authority, finishing a feed from Diana Spadaro in the 47th minute. Orgill added her tally in the 50th minute when she drilled a ball past the Goucher keeper to the far right corner. Spadaro added some insurance for the Cardinals when she collected a deflected ball in front of the goal and found the back of the net only seconds later in the 51st minute.
CUA dominated nearly every aspect of the game needing only one save by Amanda Cowan, the Cardinal keeper. 12 first half and 13 second half shots slanted the field toward the Gopher goal and a dominate 6-0 advantage in corner kicks cemented the offensive pressure.
The Cardinals will return to action on Oct. 25 at 12:30 p.m. as Drew University will travel to Washington, D.C., to take on CUA.
