Cassidy named Defensive Player of the Week

WASHINGTON – Christina Cassidy was rewarded for her play last week as she was named the Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.  Cassidy registered a pair of shutouts for CUA as the Cardinals went 2-0 on the week.

Cassidy began the week with a two-save performance in CUA's 2-0 road win at Hood on Wednesday, October 6.  The junior goalkeeper then backed that up with three more saves in CUA's 2-0 conference win at Juniata on October 9.  That victory kept the Cardinals unbeaten in Landmark Conference play at 2-0.

For the season Cassidy has sent back 21 shots in 568 minutes of action, while posting a save percentage of .808.  Cassidy has recorded three shutouts and earned four victories on the year.

Cassidy and the Cardinals will play three times this week, beginning on Tuesday evening when they travel to take on Shenandoah for a 7:00 match.
