Conference schedule gets underway on Saturday for CUA

WASHINGTON – After dropping its last three matches, including a pair of one-goal affairs, CUA looks to get back in the win column on Saturday afternoon when the Cardinals open their Landmark Conference schedule vs. Moravian at home.  The match is part of a CUA soccer doubleheader along with the men.

CUA was last in action on Wednesday afternoon when the Cardinals were upended by Stevenson.  Courtney Orgill scored the lone CUA goal, while Yasmeen Ajdari, making her first career start in goal, stopped 13 shots.

Orgill leads the Cardinals this season with three goals, while Kate Masson is tied for the team lead in points with six (2 goals, 2 assists).  Six CUA players have scored at least two goals, including Orgill, Masson, Kaylre Greaves, Caitlin Brett, Caroline Burke and Lauren Cadott.

CUA has outshot its opponents 125-78 during the early going, but the Cardinals have been outscored 15-14.

Christina Cassidy has started six matches in goal for CUA and in over 530 minutes of action, has stopped 19 shots and posted a goals against average of 1.68.

Moravian enters Saturday's match with a record of 3-3-1, but the Greyhounds have not won a match since September 7.  Quanie Lightner leads Moravian with two goals and five points, and she is the only Greyhound with more than one goal.

Genevieve Chaleff has seen the most time in goal, with six starts and 32 saves in 528 minutes.

Moravian won last year's matchup between the two schools by a 2-1 count in Bethlehem, Pa.

CUA and Moravian will get things going at 3:30 on Saturday afternoon.  The women's match follows the men's match vs. Moravian, which is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
