CUA honors careers of its senior student-athletes
On May 10, CUA held its annual Senior Student-Athlete Banquet, with over 300 people gathering for the celebration. Each head coach was in attendance, along with numerous guests, and at the end of the night six awards were presented, including the Role Model Award, Senior Athlete Award, and Harris and Donley Cups.

DiMarco driven to be the best
For his entire life, Mike DiMarco has always wanted to be the best, no matter what he was doing. He’s carried that mindset with him into the classroom and onto the soccer field and it’s led him to become one of the top student-athletes at Catholic University.

Brett making an impact for CUA on and off the field
Caitlin Brett has been interested in politics for as long as she can remember. “It seemed as though anytime we had a family gathering, there would be a political discussion and I always found it interesting,” explains the senior, who has five uncles that served in the armed forces.

There is no debate, Kate has been great for CUA
It didn’t take long for Kate Robinson to establish herself as a standout on the lacrosse field. Prior to her first scrimmage as a freshman, Head Coach Meghan McDonogh inserted Robinson into the center position vs. nationally ranked Limestone. CUA wound up winning that day with Robinson playing a leading role, and she's never looked back.

Koehr enjoys balancing rigorous schedule, on and off the field
CUA student-athlete Daniel Koehr is not your typical college freshman. Not only is he juggling the ROTC program along with being a member of the lacrosse team, but he has also taken on a civil engineering major, which is known to be one of the most demanding programs at Catholic University.

Consistency has been the key for Esposito
Ron Esposito has proven himself to be a pitching sensation during his career at CUA. This season alone, he was named Pitcher of the Week by the Landmark Conference following a win over Gettysburg, in which he went five scoreless innings. He also led CUA to a 13-2 win over Juniata on March 26, going six innings with three strikeouts.

Inside CUA: From the Presidents Desk
In my previous columns for Inside CUA this semester I have shared a lot of information, some of it (I hope) useful. In this month’s column I will limit myself to two reminders of things I’ve written about previously, and offer a reflection.

Banzhaf leaving a lasting impression at CUA
Jason Banzhaf is undoubtedly one of the most accomplished athletes that CUA has ever seen. He’s been the leader of the men’s basketball team as a dynamic scorer and rebounder and has twice been named an All-American. However, what distinguishes Banzhaf the most is his genuine love and dedication for the sport and his team.

Confrey leans on experience to lead CUA on and off the court
Kerri Confrey has continually been asked to adjust throughout her career. From being thrust into a starting role, to dealing with a coaching change, to battling through the adversity of injury, Confrey has learned the value of making the most of any situation. Now a senior, she has used those experiences to become the leader of the Cardinals.

More Than a Name on a Jersey
CUA senior field hockey player Andrea Baick remembers her first road game as a freshman. “We lost a tough game in overtime and all I wanted to do was rest on the way home on the bus, but within a few minutes I noticed that most of my teammates had their overhead light on and school work out. I figured I better do the same,” says Baick. “Now that I am a senior, I try to convey this same work ethic to our new students,” she adds.
