CUA picks up 7-2 road victory at Hood

FREDERICK, Md. – CUA picked up a 7-2 road win over Hood on Friday afternoon with the Cardinals winning every match except first singles and doubles.  CUA now sits at 2-1 on the season after Ritamarie Holden, Isabel Tanco, Emma Needham, Rosemary Montani and Molly Megna won in singles action.

Hood's Emily Maerz dropped Andie Ingram at first singles but from there it was all Cardinals, beginning with Holden who earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the second flight over Emily Schrodel.

At third singles Tanco defeated Laura Saad 6-3, 6-1, while Needham picked up a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Casey Miller at the fourth flight.  Montani downed Sandra Dziadas 6-2, 6-3 at fifth singles and Megna finished off Tejera 6-0, 6-2 at the sixth flight.

In doubles play, Maerz and Schrodel picked up Hood's lone win by an 8-4 count at the first flight, but Allison Tontz and Katie Johnson gave CUA a second flight win with an 8-2 victory over Saad and Miller.

Megna and Katherine Buer closed out the day with an 8-1 win at third doubles, taking down Tejera and Dziadas.

On Saturday the Cardinals play host to Dickinson beginning at noon.
