Cardinals place three on All-Landmark Conference Teams
WASHINGTON – CUA placed three student-athletes on the 2012 All-Landmark Conference Teams, announced on Thursday. Marge Selinger was named a first team singles and second team doubles selection, while Isabel Tanco received first team doubles recognition and Elaina Sceusa was named to the doubles second team.
After studying abroad during the first semester, Selinger returned to CUA for the spring and totaled five wins at the first singles flight. She went 5-1 vs. conference foes and ended the season on a four-match winning streak. Selinger defeated the first singles player from Susquehanna, Scranton, Goucher, Drew, and Juniata.
In doubles action, Selinger totaled four wins, including three vs. conference foes. She played eight matches at the first flight, five at the second and one at the third.
Tanco won five doubles matches this season, with two of the wins coming vs. Landmark opponents. She played ten matches at the first doubles flight and eight at the second flight. Tanco was named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week on March 5.
Sceusa also earned five doubles wins and two came against conference opponents. She played six matches at the first flight and eight at the second.
CUA won six matches this season, including three vs. conference foes. The Cardinals played a very competitive schedule that included Division I Loyola (Md.), Division II Chestnut Hill, and unbeaten Westminster.
The CUA women's and men's tennis teams dedicated their 2012 seasons to Kelsey Kramer, younger sister of men's player Kyle Kramer, who tragically passed away in a car accident in September of 2011.
