Cardinals fall to Baldwin-Wallace 6-3 on day two of spring break
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Cardinals dropped a 6-3 decision
to Baldwin-Wallace on Monday evening, as CUA continues its spring
break competition. CUA received singles wins from Isabel
Tanco and Emma Needham, while Needham and Caitlin Porter picked up
a win in doubles action.
In singles play, Jenny Greene upended CUA’s Margie Selinger
6-4, 6-1 at the first flight, while Ritamarie Holden fell to
Rebecca Mittler 7-6, 6-0 at the second flight.
At third singles, Andie Ingram was defeated by
Baldwin-Wallace’s Morgan Baker 6-3, 6-1, before Tanco came
away with a 3-6, 6-1, 10-5 win at the fourth flight.
Needham made it two straight for the Cardinals with a 6-4, 6-4 win
over Whitney Yoder at fifth singles, while Rosemary Montani fell to
Rachel Bertrand 6-3, 6-2 at sixth singles.
In doubles play, Mittler and Baker took an 8-4 decision from
Selinger and Sceusa at the first flight, while Greene and Yoder
upended Ingram and Tanco 8-6 at the second flight.
Needham and Porter then came away with an 8-6 victory vs. Danielle
Rueger and Emily Brown.
On Tuesday, CUA will face Westminster (Pa.) beginning at 11:30
a.m.
