Cardinals downed by first place Drew 8-1 in New Jersey
MADISON, N.J. – The Cardinals dropped an 8-1 decision at first place Drew on Saturday afternoon. Margie Selinger picked up CUA's lone win, earning a victory at the first singles flight. Following the day's action, CUA is 5-13 overall and 2-3 in the Landmark Conference, while the Rangers are 7-3 and 4-1.
Selinger got CUA off on a good note, downing Chelsea Lipp 6-2, 7-6 at the first singles flight, but Drew controlled the action from there.
Ritamarie Holden was upended 6-3, 6-3 at the second singles flight, while Zoe Childs took down Elaina Sceusa 6-1, 6-2 at the third flight.
At fourth singles, Sofia Madrigal earned a 6-3, 6-3 win over Caitlin Porter, while Deanna Williams defeated Isabel Tanco 1-6, 6-3, 10-7 at the fifth flight.
Cristine Conde closed out singles action with a 6-3, 6-1 win over CUA's Rosemary Montani.
In doubles play, Sarit Ashkenazi and Madrigal earned an 8-6 win over Selinger and Sceusa at the first flight, while Lipp and Williams defeated Andie Ingram and Tanco 8-5 at the second flight.
Zoe Childs and Conde then downed Holden and Porter 8-6 at third doubles.
CUA has one regular season match remaining, which will take place on Saturday, April 21 when the Cardinals host Juniata at 12 p.m.
