CUA falls to Division I Loyola (Md.)
WASHINGTON – The Cardinals dropped a 9-0 decision to
Division I Loyola (Md.) on Wednesday afternoon at the CUA Tennis
Courts. It was the Cardinals final tune-up prior to the start
of Landmark Conference play this weekend.
In singles action, Margie Selinger fell to Rachel Janasek 6-1, 6-1
at the first flight, while Ritamarie Holden was upended 6-3, 6-1
vs. Scarlett Hoy at the second flight.
Loyola’s Sabrina Fedele came away with a 6-0, 6-0 win vs.
Caitlin Porter at third singles and Tiffany Ash emerged with a 6-1,
6-2 victory over CUA’s Elaina Sceusa at the fourth
flight.
At fifth singles, Emma Needham fell to Judy Lite 6-0, 6-1 and
Amanda Pellegrino dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision to Olivia Ott at
sixth singles.
Janasek and Ott won the first doubles point 8-1 over Selinger and
Isabel Tanco, while Porter and Sceusa fell to Hoy and Lite 8-1 at
the second doubles flight.
Fedele and Ash finished things with an 8-2 win over Holden and
Needham at the third flight.
On Saturday, CUA travels to Selinsgrove, Pa. to face league foe
Susquehanna. Start time is slated for 1 p.m.
