CUA falls to Mount Union in spring break opener
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Cardinals dropped their spring break opener on Sunday, falling to Mount Union by an 8-1 score. Isabel Tanco picked up CUA's lone win on the day, downing MacKenzie Jenkins 6-4, 5-7, 10-4 at the sixth singles flight.
At first singles, Margie Selinger was upended 6-1, 6-0 by Krissy Hallett, and at second singles, Ritamarie Holden dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Mandy Wise.
Mount Union's Hannah Arvidson earned a 6-3, 6-4 win at third singles over the Cardinals Andie Ingram, while Megan Czuchra downed Caitlin Porter 6-4, 6-2 at the fourth flight.
At fifth singles, Courtney Adamsky downed Elaina Sceusa 7-6, 4-6, 10-7.
In doubles play, Hallett and Czuchra defeated Selinger and Sceusa 8-3 at the first flight and Wise and Arvidson picked up an 8-2 win over Ingram and Tanco at the second flight.
Emma Needham and Porter were upended 8-6 at the third flight by Adamsky and Taylor Dowling.
In other singles matches, Needham and Amanda Pellegrino earned wins by scores of 8-4 and 8-2, respectively, while in an added doubles match, Rosemary Montani and Pellegrino fell by a score of 8-5.
On Monday, CUA continues its spring break trip when it takes on Baldwin-Wallace beginning at 6 p.m.
