CUA downs Randolph-Macon 7-2 to earn 13th win

WASHINGTON – Behind singles wins from Liz Harvey, Ritamarie Holden, Elaina Sceusa, Caitlin Porter and Emma Needham, CUA downed Randolph-Macon 7-2 on Monday afternoon. The Cardinals also received doubles points from Holden and Porter, as well as Andie Ingram and Isabel Tanco to notch their 13th win of the season.

In singles action, Harvey earned a 6-2, 6-0 win over Courtney Owens at the 2nd flight, while Holden defeated Caty-Betz Holcomb 7-5, 6-1 at the 3rd flight.

At 4th singles, Sceusa defeated Violet Han 6-1, 6-2, and Porter upended Jane Oh 6-2, 6-1 at the 5th flight.

Needham downed Madison Guidry 6-3, 6-4 at the 6th singles position.

RMC's lone singles point came from Angelina Sportelli, who won the 1st flight point by default.

Holden and Porter teamed up to sweep Holcomb and Mackenzie Nunnally 8-0 at 2nd doubles, while Ingram and Tanco defeated Reba Sledd and Hahn 8-3 at the 3rd flight.

The Yellow Jackets won the 1st doubles point, as Sportelli and Owens downed Marge Selinger and Harvey 9-7.

CUA, which has already clinched a Landmark Conference Tournament berth, heads to Pennsylvania on Saturday to face the Juniata Eagles in the regular season finale. Start time is set for noon.

The conference tournament then gets underway on Wednesday, April 24.
