Cardinals sweep Susquehanna 9-0, now 3-0 in Landmark
WASHINGTON – The Cardinals are now 3-0 in the Landmark Conference after sweeping Susquehanna 9-0 on Sunday afternoon. CUA received singles wins from Marge Selinger, Liz Harvey, Ritamarie Holden, Elana Sceusa, Caitlin Porter and Emma Needham, and then swept the doubles points for its 11th win of the season.
At 1st singles, Selinger picked up a hard-fought 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 win over Selby O'Riley, while Harvey defeated Abby Hess 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 at the 2nd flight.
Holden defeated Jessica Klinger 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 at 3rd singles and Sceusa downed Brielle Feriauto 6-4, 6-4 at the 4th flight.
At 5th singles, Porter earned a 6-1, 6-4 win, while Needham picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win over Claire Smyth at 6th singles.
Selinger and Harvey downed Hess and O'Riley 9-8 at 1st doubles, and Holden and Porter teamed up to defeat Klinger and Feriauto 8-4 at the 2nd flight.
Sceusa and Tanco earned an 8-3 win against Ellen Pulsinelle and Jessica Lage at 3rd doubles.
CUA returns to action on Wednesday afternoon when the Cardinals travel to Goucher. Start time is set for 3 p.m. in a matchup of teams with identical 3-0 Landmark Conference records.
