Cardinals improve to 2-0 with sweep of Trinity
WASHINGTON – CUA improved to 2-0 on Wednesday with a 9-0
sweep of Trinity. The Cardinals received singles wins from
Rosemary Montani, Maria Notarianni, Blinne Finnegan, Katherine
Buer, Jackie Read and Samantha Boger.
Montani opened things with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Audrey Wandji at
first singles, and Notarianni followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win over
Abimbola Akinrimist at the second flight.
At third singles, Finnegan took down Stefanie Merki 6-1, 6-2 and
Katherine Buer added a 6-0, 6-0 win over Shari King at fourth
singles.
Read and Boger closed singles play out with a pair of 6-0, 6-0
wins at the fifth and sixth flights, respectively.
In doubles action, CUA had little trouble with Trinity as Elaina
Sceusa and Notarianni earned an 8-0 sweep at the first
flight.
Caitlin Porter and Boger did the same at second doubles, as did
Montani and Gretchen Coombs at third doubles.
The Cardinals are back in action on Thursday afternoon when they
host St. Mary’s at 2:30 p.m. The match began on
September 8 but was postponed due to a rainstorm that moved in
midway through.
