Cardinals drop spring break finale to strong Westminster squad
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – CUA dropped a tough 5-4 decision to a
strong Westminster squad on Thursday afternoon as the Cardinals
wrapped up their annual spring break trip. Ritmarie Holden, Caitlin
Porter and Emma Needham earned singles wins for CUA, while Holden
and Porter combined to capture the 2nd doubles point.
At 1st singles, CUA’s Marge Selinger pushed Alex Bailey to
the limit, before falling 7-6, 9-7. Liz Harvey fell to Caitlin
Hosler 7-5, 6-2 at 2nd singles.
Holden earned a 6-0, 6-4 win against Jane Larson at the 3rd
flight, and Porter picked up a 6-3, 6-3 victory vs. Heather Santa
at 4th singles.
At the 5th flight, Needham downed Lauren Fling 6-3, 6-3, while
Maria Notarianni was upended 6-1, 4-6, 10-6 at the 6th flight by
Beth Ekimoff.
In doubles action, Holden and Porter picked up an 8-6 victory at
the 2nd flight.
Selinger and Harvey dropped an 8-1 decision at 1st doubles, and
Needham and Isabel Tanco fell to Larson and Ekimoff 8-1 at the 3rd
flight.
CUA will return to action on Friday, March 15 when the Cardinals
travel north to face Harford Community College. Start time is set
for 3:30 p.m.
