Cards Win Three on Spring Break Trip

Hilton Head, S.C. – The Catholic University of America women's tennis team earned three victories on its annual Spring Break Trip as they Cardinals downed Lebanon Valley, Roanoke and St. John Fisher to improve to 6-3 overall.

The Cards earned an 8-1 victory over Lebanon Valley as they won every singles match and the top two doubles contests.

Junior Jenna Gietl teamed with sophomore Erin Cole as they swept their way to a win at No. 2 doubles, 8-0. Gietl also won at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-0, while Cole was victorious at No. 4, 6-3, 6-1.

Against Roanoke, Catholic came back from falling in all three doubles matches to sweep singles competition and win, 5-3.

Senior No. 1 Laura Torsiello got it started as she rallied herself from a 1-6 loss in the first to win the tie-breaker 10-8.

The Cards went on to win every matchup against St. John Fisher, winning 9-0.

Torisello got two wins in the battle of the Cardinals winning at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, and teaming with Sarah MacLean to win No. 1 doubles, 8-3.

MacLean went on to win No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-1.
