Women’s Tennis Victorious in Season Opener

Stevenson, Md. — The Catholic University of America women's tennis team opened the 2017-18 season at Stevenson on Saturday and were victorious as they defeated the Mustangs, 7-2.

Senior all-conference performer Jenna Gietl led the way with two wins from the top spot for the Cardinals. She earned the win at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-2, and went on to team with junior Erin Cole to take No. 1 doubles, 8-4.

Cole was also a two-time winner as she turned in an impressive showing at No. 3, winning 6-2, 6-0.

Catholic will look to keep its winning ways going this Friday when they play their home opener on the Dowd Family Tennis Courts on Friday, September 15, at 3 p.m., versus Franciscan.
