Cards finish season 5-9

SCRANTON, Pa. - The Catholic University of America women's tennis squad ended its season with a tough loss at the University of Scranton in the Landmark ConferenceTournament Semifinals.  The third-seeded Cardinals fell 6-3 to the #2 Royals to finish the season at 5-9.

The Cardinals were only down one match after doubles play as the all-Landmark team of senior Emily McGlynn (Tallahassee, Fla./Leon) and junior Rachel Tenuta (Fayetteville, N.C./Fayetteville) defeated their opponents 8-0.  The pair ends the season undefeated in conference play.

On the singles side, the Cardinals managed two victories but it wasn't enough.  At the number two slot, McGlynn won 6-2, 6-4 defeating Deirdre Wylie.  Caitlin Dunn (Hanover, Pa./Delone ) also won at number four getting the victory by a score of 6-0, 6-0.

Despite the loss of McGlynn at number two, Corinne Alcorn (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) at number three and Reenie Costello (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) , CUA will return some strength next season.  Tenuta, recently named the Landmark Conference Player of the Year, will come back at number one and Mary Wargo (Manchester, N.H./Trinity) as well as Dunn and Julia Cotrone (Hanover, Mass./Hanover) will be depended upon to move up in the lineup.
