Women's Tennis Takes Gophers 7-2
CUA moves into third place in Landmark

WASHINGTON - The Catholic University women's tennis team put together another solid Landmark Conference match on Wednesday. The Cardinals defeated the Goucher College Gophers (10-5, 2-2 Landmark), 7-2. With the win, CUA improves to 4-8 on the season and 3-2 in the Landmark Conference which puts the squad in third place in the standings.
The Cardinals won the first five matches of singles play to rack up points on the Gophers. A number of Cards won in hard-fought battles. At number one, Rachel Tenuta (Fayetteville, N.C./Fayetteville) won 6-3, 6-3 while in the three spot Corinne Alcorn (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) defeated her opponent 7-5, 6-3. Mary Wargo faced the toughest challenge of the day winning the five spot 6-4, 3-6, 10-8.
In doubles, the pair of Tenuta and Emily McGlynn (Tallahassee, Fla./Leon) won 8-2. Wargo (Manchester, N.H./Trinity) and partner Caitlin Dunn (Hanover, Pa./Delone) also took their match at the three position 8-2.
The Cardinals will travel to Susquehanna on Saturday for a Landmark Conference match-up with the Crusaders.
