Cardinals earn another win with 9-0 defeat of McDaniel
WESTMINSTER, Md. – It was another 9-0 shutout win for the
CUA women’s tennis team on Sunday as the Cardinals blanked
the Green Terror of McDaniel. CUA won the three doubles
matches by identical 8-1 scores and was never seriously challenged
in any of the singles matches.
At first singles, Marjorie Selinger downed Brittany Starlings 6-0,
6-3, while at second singles Caitlin Porter defeated Devan Hamric
6-2, 6-0. Andie Ingram defeated Sara Yost 6-0, 6-3 at third
singles and Elizabeth Harvey picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win over Carissa
Grove at fourth singles.
At fifth singles Amanda Pellegrino earned a 6-2, 6-2 win, while
Rosemary Lee Montani closed out singles play with a 6-0, 6-3 win
over Becky Putnam at the six spot.
In doubles play, Ingram and Pellegrino earned an 8-1 win at the
first flight, while Selinger and Porter downed Grove and Yost 8-1
at second doubles.
Pellegrino and Montani then closed the day out with yet another
Cardinals win, as they beat Jessica Gelber and Putnam 8-1.
The Cardinals will return to action on September 22 when they host
the University of the District of Columbia. Match time is set
for 3:30.
