Cardinals move to 2-0 with 9-0 sweep of Notre Dame College
WASHINGTON – The Cardinals moved to 2-0 on Thursday
afternoon with a 9-0 shutout of the College of Notre Dame.
CUA swept five of the nine matches on the afternoon and lost only
three points on the entire afternoon.
At first singles Andie Ingram got the day off to a strong start
with a 6-0, 6-1 victory, while Liz Harvey followed with a 6-0, 6-2
win at second singles. Julia O’Connor, Anissa Boyko and
Kasia Zak then each swept their respective matches 6-0, 6-0 at
third, fourth and fifth singles.
In doubles play, Harvey and Katie Johnson earned an 8-0 win at the
first flight and Zak and Kat Polymeropoulos followed with an 8-0
win at second doubles.
Katie Johnson won by default at sixth singles and O’Connor
and Boyko did the same at third doubles.
CUA will return to the courts on Friday afternoon when the
Cardinals take on Trinity (D.C.). The match is scheduled to
begin at 3:30.
