CUA runs its unbeaten streak to eight with win over St. Mary's

WASHINGTON – The Cardinals ran their win streak to eight matches on Saturday as CUA downed St. Mary’s by a score of 8-1 at the CUA Tennis Courts.  CUA lost only the first singles point on the day as the Cardinals remain unbeaten during the 2010 fall season.

Elaina Sceusa fell to Katie Lackler 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 at first singles, before Gretchen Coombs got CUA on track with an 8-7, 6-0 win at second singles.

Kasia Zak then earned a 6-2, 6-4 win at the third flight and Amanda Pellegrino, Julia O’Connor and Allison Tontz closed things out with consecutive wins at fourth, fifth and sixth singles.

In doubles play Andie Ingram and Elizabeth Harvey scored an 8-3 win at the first flight, before Caitlin Porter and Isabel Tanco earned an 8-4 win at the second flight.

Anissa Boyko and Rosemary Montani closed the day out strong for CUA with a 9-7 win at third singles.

CUA has one final match remaining in its 2010 fall schedule.  It will take place on September 30 when the Cardinals travel to Pennsylvania to take on York.  The match is scheduled to get underway beginning at 3:30.
