CUA upended by Marian 9-0 on day two of spring break
SOUTH BEACH, S.C. – CUA suffered its third straight loss
on Monday falling to Marian (Ind.) 9-0 in South Carolina.
Marian took the singles matches in straight sets and did not
surrender more than three points in any of the doubles matches to
drop the Cardinals to 8-3 during this academic year.
Marjorie Selinger fell to Dana Reynolds 7-5, 6-4 at first singles
and Elaina Sceusa fell to Lauren Paras 6-2, 6-2 at the second
flight.
In third singles action Ritamarie Holden fell to Brit Horlacher
6-1, 6-1, and Olivia Pursell defeated Caitlin Porter 6-3, 6-4 at
fourth singles.
Elizabeth Harvey and Gretchen Coombs were upended at fifth and
sixth singles, respectively.
In doubles action Andie Ingram and Caitlin Porter fell to Pursell
and Paras 8-3 at the first flight, while Rosemary Montani and
Harvey were beaten by Tiffany Schendel and Aly O’Conner 8-3
at the second flight.
Samantha Crump and Horlacher completed the sweep for Marian with
an 8-1 defeat of Christine Harvey and Katie Johnson at third
doubles.
On Tuesday the Cardinals will take on Ohio Wesleyan in Port Royal,
S.C. Match time is slated for 12:30 p.m.
