CUA's season ends vs. Moravian in conference semifinals
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Cardinals saw their 2010-11 season
come to a close on Wednesday afternoon after CUA fell to Moravian
5-4 in the semifinals of the Landmark Conference Tournament.
Elaina Sceusa, Caitlin Porter and Elizabeth Harvey earned singles
wins for the Cardinals who see their season end with a record of
15-7.
Moravian’s Chelsea Ott earned a 6-0, 6-0 win over Marjorie
Selinger at first singles, while Kerry McKinley defeated
CUA’s Andie Ingram 6-1, 6-0 at the second flight.
At third singles Sceusa earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over Elizabeth Endy
but Moravian’s Katie Zien defeated Ritamarie Holden 6-2, 6-0
at the fourth flight.
Porter downed Stephanie Cox 7-6, 6-2 at fifth singles and Harvey
defeated Brianna Kavanagh 6-1, 6-0 at the sixth flight.
In doubles action Ingram and Isabel Tanco earned an 8-4 win at the
second flight over Cox and Endy, but the Greyhounds won the other
two matches, including 8-3 at the first flight and 8-5 at the third
flight.
The match was played inside the Lewis Tennis Center on the campus
of Lehigh University due to adverse weather conditions in the
Lehigh Valley.
CUA had quite a remarkable turnaround this year, winning 15
matches overall and four within the Landmark Conference. Last
season CUA registered only six wins, none of which came vs.
conference foes.
