Strong Wittenberg squad downs CUA 7-2 in Myrtle Beach
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Cardinals fell to an unbeaten
Wittenberg (9-0) squad 7-2 on Wednesday afternoon as CUA (9-4)
continues its spring break trip in South Carolina. Elaina
Sceusa and Elizabeth Harvey won singles matches for CUA at the
third and sixth flights, respectively.
Marjorie Selinger fell to Leah Ann Miller 6-0, 6-0 at first
singles and Andie Ingram was upended 6-2, 6-1 at the second
flight.
Sceusa registered the Cardinals first win of the day with a 2-6,
6-4, 10-4 win over Anne Beauch at third singles and Harvey notched
a 2-6, 7-5, 10-5 win over Kristin Wright at the sixth flight for
CUA’s second win.
Ritamarie Holden and Caitlin Porter fell at fourth and fifth
singles, respectively.
In doubles action Beauch and Maggie Stewart defeated
Selinger and Sceusa 9-8 in a tight match at the first flight before
Porter and Ingram fell 8-1 at second doubles and Holden and Harvey
were upended 8-1 at the third flight.
On Thursday the Cardinals will wrap up their spring break trip
with a match vs. Mount Union. Start time is scheduled for
11:30 a.m.
