Cardinals sweep past Juniata, move above .500 in Landmark
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – CUA won its 14th match of the year and moved above .500 in Landmark Conference play with a dominating 9-0 sweep of Juniata on Saturday. The Cardinals won all six singles matches in straight sets and completed the sweep with wins at all three doubles flights.
Majorie Selinger started things off with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Megan Phillips at first singles and Andie Ingram earned a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Stacie Beegle at the second flight.
Elaina Sceusa downed Lauren Perow 6-1, 6-1 at third singles and Ritmarie Holden took down Laura Gregory 6-1, 6-1 at fourth singles.
Amanda Pellegrino and Rosemary Montani closed out singles play with 6-3, 6-0 and 7-6, 6-2 wins, respectively, at the fifth and sixth flights.
Selinger and Sceusa won an 8-4 decision over Phillips and Beegle at first doubles and Ingram and Isabel Tanco defeated Perow and Walsh 8-3 at the second flight.
At third doubles Caitlin Porter and Liz Harvey earned an 8-1 win over Gregory and Adams.
CUA has one regular season match remaining, which comes on Thursday, April 21 when the Cardinals play host to Susquehanna. Match time is 1 p.m.
