Cardinals take down Royals 5-4 for first conference win
WASHINGTON – CUA picked up its first Landmark Conference
victory of the season on Saturday afternoon, defeating Scranton 5-4
on its home courts. Marjorie Sellinger, Andie Ingram, Elaina
Sceusa and Elizabeth Harvey earned singles wins for the Cardinals
with Caitlin Porter and Harvey also winning in doubles.
Selinger started things off for CUA with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 win over
Stephanie Boccuzzi at first singles, followed by Ingram’s
6-4, 6-2 victory at the second flight.
Sceusa then made it three straight with her 7-5, 6-2 win over
Devon Cohen at third singles.
The Royals Danielle Wylie took down Ritamarie Holden 6-2, 6-3 at
fourth singles and Kelly Costello defeated Porter 8-3 at the fifth
flight.
Harvey closed out singles play with an 8-5 victory over Caitlin
Ehly.
In doubles action Boccuzzi and Cohen earned an 8-6 win at the
first flight over Selinger and Sceusa, while Wylie and Elisha
Connell beat Ingram and Isabel Tanco 8-4 at the second flight.
Porter and Harvey earned a 9-7 win at third singles over Costello
and Ehly though and CUA won its tenth match of the academic
year.
CUA will return to action on Wednesday, April 6 when the Cardinals
host Stevenson. Action begins at 3:30 p.m.
