Trio of freshmen named All-Conference; Ingram earns ROY award
WASHINGTON – The 2011 All-Landmark Conference Women's Tennis Teams were announced on Tuesday and CUA had three freshmen student-athletes honored in Andie Ingram, Liz Harvey and Caitlin Porter. Ingram was named the 2011 Rookie of the Year and a Second Team Singles selection, Harvey earned Second Team Singles and Doubles recognition and Porter received Second Team Doubles accolades.
Ingram won six singles matches this season, including three within the Landmark Conference. She competed at the first, second, third and fifth flights throughout the year, picking up her most wins at second singles (three). Ingram also earned nine wins at doubles this academic year.
Harvey earns a spot on the Second Singles and Doubles Teams after compiling a team-high 12 singles wins throughout the year, in addition to 10 doubles wins. A native of New York, Harvey went unbeaten in the Landmark Conference (5-0) at singles and ended the year on an eight-match winning streak. Harvey went 9-1 at sixth singles and won nine of her final ten singles matches.
In doubles play, Harvey teamed with Ingram to go 5-2, including 3-0 at the first flight, and she also played seven matches with Porter, going 5-2 in those matchups.
Porter earned nine wins in doubles play during the year, including five with Harvey. All five of those victories came vs. conference foes and at the third flight. In singles action, Porter went 9-6 overall, including a 4-1 mark within the Landmark.
CUA had a terrific 2010-11 season, compiling a record of 15-7 overall and 4-2 within the conference. The Cardinals went unbeaten at home (9-0) and reeled off six wins in their final seven regular season matches to clinch a berth in the Landmark Conference Tournament for the first time since 2008.
