Cardinals win third straight by taking down Drew 6-3
WASHINGTON – Behind four singles wins and a pair of wins at doubles, CUA earned its third straight win on Saturday afternoon, downing Drew 6-3. Andie Ingram, Ritamarie Holden, Caitlin Porter and Liz Harvey won their respective singles matches and Ingram and Isabel Tanco, along with Porter and Harvey earned wins in doubles action.
Drew's Sarit Ashkenazi won the first singles point, taking down CUA's Marjorie Selinger 6-1, 6-1. Ingram then evened the singles scoring with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Sofia Madrigal at the second flight.
Elaina Sceusa was upended by Chelsea Lipp 6-3, 6-1 at third singles before Holden came away with a 7-6, 6-4 win at fourth singles to even the scoring at two wins apiece.
Porter and Harvey then closed out singles play with back-to-back wins, with Porter earning a 6-2, 6-4 win at the fifth flight and Harvey taking down Rebecca Olderman 6-0, 6-0 at the sixth flight.
In doubles action Madrigal and Lipp earned an 8-2 win at the first flight over Selinger and Sceusa, but Ingram and Tanco responded with an 8-6 win at the second flight.
Porter and Harvey then won an 8-3 match over Cristine Conde and Yiyi Rodriguez at the third flight to give CUA two out of three doubles wins.
On Sunday CUA heads to Pennsylvania to take on the York Spartans. Match time is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
