Cardinals fall to Gophers 6-3 in Towson
TOWSON, Md. – CUA fell to Goucher on Friday afternoon by a score of 6-3 to drop the Cardinals to 2-2 in the Landmark Conference. Caitlin Porter and Elizabeth Harvey earned singles wins for CUA and that pair also combined to win at third doubles for the Cardinals.
At first singles Joan Pulupa defeated CUA's Marjorie Selinger 6-2, 6-3, while Andie Ingram fell to Meghan Lee 7-5, 6-3 at the second flight.
Goucher's Mara Bergman upended Elaina Sceusa 6-2, 6-1 at third singles and Ritamarie Holden dropped a 6-4, 6-2 match to Addie Maxwell at the fourth flight.
Porter earned CUA's first win of the afternoon with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Jacqui Lamer at fifth singles and Harvey registered an 8-1 victory over Alyssa Zick at the sixth flight.
In doubles play Pulupa and Bergman earned an 8-2 win over Selinger and Sceusa at the first flight and Meaghan Lee and Maxwell upended Ingram and Isabel Tanco 8-2 at the second flight.
Harvey and Porter earned an 8-4 win over Lamer and Andrea Stephaich at the third doubles flight.
On Sunday the Cardinals remain on the road when they head to Pennsylvania to take on Juniata in a 1 p.m. match. The match was originally slated for Saturday but got pushed back a day due to weather issues.
