CUA downs York 7-2 to earn 13th win of the season
YORK, Pa. – CUA kept things rolling on Sunday afternoon by downing York 7-2. The Cardinals lost the first two singles points but reeled off wins in the other seven matches to improve to 13-5 on the season. Registering singles wins were Elaina Sceusa, Ritamarie Holden, Caitlin Porter and Elizabeth Harvey.
At first singles Marjorie Selinger dropped a tough 6-3, 7-6 decision to Sarah Wargo, while at the second flight Andie Ingram was upended by Kately Acker in another tight finish, 3-6, 7-6, 7-6.
Sceusa defeated Samantha Brenner 6-4, 6-1 at third singles and Holden picked up a 7-6, 6-2 win at the fourth flight.
Porter took care of Arcondia Vlahos 8-3 at fifth singles and Harvey closed it out with an 8-1 victory at the sixth flight.
In doubles action Selinger and Sceusa earned an 8-2 win at the first flight and Andie Ingram and Harvey won 8-0 over Samathan Brenner and Megan McCullin at the second flight.
At third doubles Porter and Amanda Pellegrino earned an 8-2 win over Stephanie Nelson and Nicole Olson.
CUA has three regular season matches remaining, all vs. Landmark Conference opponents with the first match set for Wednesday, April 13 at Goucher. Start time is set for 3 p.m. On Saturday, April 16 the Cardinals will travel to face Juniata in a 1 p.m. match.
