Dana Dowd enters her seventh year as women's tennis coach after leading the Cardinals to their sixth winning season. Her team finished with a 9-6 record (70-22 career, .761 winning percentage) and placed third in the Capital Athletic Conference.

Dowd's record last season continues the success she enjoyed as a player. She played No.1 singles for CUA from 1985 to 1989 and compiled a career singles record of 59-32. As a senior in 1988 to 1989, she was 21-5 in singles and 17-2 in doubles. She led the Cardinals to a 16-3 finish that year and a ranking of 23rd in the nation.

As the oldest of four, Dana grew up playing tennis. First in the USTA juniors, later in junior and senior high school and finally at CUA. Dowd began her coaching career as head women's coach at Marymount University from 1991-1993, and served as an assistant men's and women's coach at Georgetown University from 1993-1996.

Dowd, who graduated from CUA in 1989 with a degree in psychology, earned a master's degree in physical therapy from Marymount University in 1999. Along with her background in tennis, Dowd is a physical therapist, certified Pilates and exercise instructor and a personal trainer.

Dana and her husband, Marwan Kublawi, live in Kensington, Md. They have a son, Anthony, 5, and a daughter, Anna, 3.
