Carioto becomes CUA's fifth Academic All-American of 2011-12
WASHINGTON – Kelly Carioto has been named a 2012 Capital One Academic All-American, it was announced on Tuesday. Carioto was named to the Third Team and becomes the fifth CUA student-athlete to earn Academic All-America honors this academic year, joining Ryan Doyle (lacrosse), Marc Saxton (lacrosse), Tracey Scanlon (field hockey and softball), and Mary Swarthout (lacrosse and field hockey).

In the classroom, Carioto was named a 2011 Academic All-American by the USTFCCCA, and she is a multi-year member of the Dean's List and Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll. A history major, Carioto maintained a 3.93 grade point average at CUA, and was the 2011 ECAC indoor shot put champion, becoming the first Cardinal in over a decade to win an ECAC title.
