Cardinals open second semester schedule in Pa.
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – CUA opened its second semester indoor schedule on Sunday with a trip to the Orange & Maroon Classic on the campus of Susquehanna University. Kelly Carioto was the top individual finisher as she won the shot put with a throw of 38'7".
In the track events, Sarah Deitz posted a third place finish in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.67 seconds, while Laura Kinley (5:51.42) and Kristen Rayfield (5:56.16) finished second and fifth, respectively, in the mile.
Kinley also added a fourth place finish in the 800 meters (2:35.91). Kelsely Broomfield (1:06.26), Gillis (1:06.90) and Tali Peretti (1:07.61) finished seventh, ninth and tenth, respectively, in the 400 meters.
In the 200 meters, CUA had a trio of top-12 finishers, including Deitz (29.14), Broomfield (29.26) and Erin Sandlin (29.72).
Camelia Mayfield crossed in a time of 19:34.42, which was good for second in the 5000 meters, with Keely Eckberg crossing in fourth place (20:38.72).
In the field events, Mary Clark placed fourth in the shot put (33'9 ½") and fifth in the weight throw, with a toss of 37'4 ½".
In the long jump, Candance Williamson placed sixth with a leap of 15', while Hannah Gillis came in ninth place (14'9"). Courtney Doran finished second in the high jump with a leap of 4'9 ¾".
CUA is back in action on Saturday, January 28 when the Cardinals travel to the Lebanon Valley Invitational. Action gets underway beginning at 10 a.m.
