Cardinals return to action at Captains Invitational
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – CUA opened its second semester
schedule at the Captains Invitational, on the campus of Christopher
Newport over the weekend. Keely Eckberg posted the Cardinals
top finish, placing second in the 5000, while Candace Williamson
came in fifth in the triple jump.
Eckberg crossed in second place in the 5000 meters, posting a time
of 19:10.11, while Rebecca Radcliffe came in seventh with a time of
19:30.89.
Grace Weaver finished 23rd in the 200 meter dash, crossing in
28.68, while Bridget Krumholz (25), Hannah Gillis (28), Kelsely
Broomfield (29), Candace Williamson (31), and Kim Ryen (34) also
competed.
In the 400 meter dash, Krumholz finished 16th in 1:05.10, while
Weaver placed 19th (1:05.67) and Broomfield came in 22nd
(1:08.78).
Four Cardinals finished in the top-15 of the mile, including Laura
Kinley in sixth (6:02.18), Cristina Butrico in 11th (6:17.12), Erin
Schlegel in 12th (6:20.03) and Grace Lally in 14th (6:27.18).
Kinley (2:37.94), Jane Marrinan (2:38.02) and Kristen Rayfield
(2:39.01) finished 14th, 15th and 16th, respectively, in the
800-meter run.
In the field events, Christine Burias and Erin Sandlin came in
sixth in the pole vault, with a leap of 8’ 10
¼”, while Williamson finished fifth (29’ 6
½”) and Ryan sixth (29’ 6 ½”) in
the triple jump.
Mary Clark posted a throw of 44’ 2 ¾” in the
weight throw to claim a sixth place finish, with Megan Ross coming
in 12th with a throw of 36’ 7”.
CUA will be back in action on January 26 when the Cardinals travel
to the Lebanon Valley Invite. Start time is set for 7:45
a.m.
