Ross leads Cardinals in final meet before league championship

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Megan Ross posted three top-10 finishes, including a win in the shot put, to lead the Cardinals at the Gettysburg Invite on Saturday. Hannah Gillis finished 2nd in the long jump and Keely Eckberg and Laura Kinley added 3rd place finishes in the mile and 400, respectively, as CUA tuned up for next week's outdoor conference championship.

Ross won the shot put with a throw of 37' 10 ½", while Mary Clark came in 4th with a throw of 36' ½".

Ross then came in 2nd in the discus, registering a throw of 112' 7", with Clark placing 8th this time (91' 4").

In the hammer, Clark placed 5th (129' 1") and Ross was 8th (104').

Gillis finished 2nd in the long jump with a leap of 15' 7 ½", and in the 400 hurdles, she crossed in 1:14.74, placing her in 6th place.

Eckberg completed the mile in 5:27.55, good for 3rd place, while Maria Dextra Cercos came in 6th in the 100 hurdles, posting a time of 17.73.

In the 400, Kinley finished 3rd, crossing in 1:03.13, while Jane Marrinan came in 8th with a time of 1:04.99.

Maria Docal came in 9th in the 800, finishing with a time of 2:40.96, and Grace Weaver was 6th in the long jump (14' 4 ½").

With 63 points, CUA finished 6th in the team standings.

Gettysburg finished atop the leaderboard with 120 points, followed by Millersville with 117, Hood with 111, Mary Washington (102) and Dickinson (76).

CUA now heads to Goucher College on April 27 for the two-day Landmark Conference outdoor championship. Start time is set for 11 a.m.
