Cardinals place 4th at Messiah College Invite
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – CUA put forth a strong performance at the Messiah College Invite on Saturday, finishing 4th in the 16-school event. Laura Kinley won the 1500, while Megan Ross, Christine Burias and the 4 x 400 relay team earned 2nd place finishes.
Kinley won the 1500 with a time of 4:56.12, while Keely Eckberg was 3rd, crossing in 5:06.98.
Ross' throw of 38' 4 ¼" was good for 2nd place in the shot put, as was her throw of 116' 8" in the discus. Burias earned a 2nd place finish in the pole vault, clearing 8' ¼".
In the 4 x 400 relay, CUA crossed in 2nd, with the foursome of Jane Marrinan, Maria Docal, Kinley and Bridget Krumholz posting a time of 4:16.72.
Cristina Butrico came in 5th in the 10,000 (43:04.43) and in the 400, Krumholz crossed in 6th place (1:02.99).
In the 800, Marrinan (2:36.12), Docal (2:36.97) and Eckberg (2:37.75) finished 11th, 12th and 13th, respectively.
Kim Ryan came in 4th in the triple jump (30' 10 ¼"), and Kaila DeFalco finished 4th in the hammer throw (108' 7").
Messiah claimed the top spot in the team standings with 171 points, followed by Elizabethtown (152.50), Dickinson (88) and CUA (70).
CUA returns to action on April 20 when the Cardinals compete at the Gettysburg Invitational. That will be CUA's final meet before championship season gets underway.
