WASHINGTON - The Catholic University men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed at the 19-team Bow Tie Classic hosted by Ursinus College on Saturday, Dec. 7.
On the women's side, sophomore Megan Ross led the way for the Cardinals, collecting four points behind a 11.32m throw in the shot put, good for a fourth-place finish. Classmate Mary Clark also broke the top-10 with a ninth place finish in the same event, posting a throw of 10.83m.
CUA had four other top-15 finishes, as Bridget Krumholz's 1:05.57 finish in the 400m dash earned her a the 14th fastest time. Maria Dextra Cercos was 13th in the 60m hurdles with a 10.68 time in the sprint. Cercos had a other 13th place finish in her second event of the day, the triple jump with a 8.93m effort. Samantha Kozlowski broke the top-15 in her collegiate debut, throwing 9.64m in the shot put.
On the men's side, John Brewer had the best finish for the Cardinals. The sophomore crossed the finish line fourth with a time of 4:31.59 in the 1 Mile run. Robert Leeson was the other point scorer for the CUA, as his sixth place finish in the 800m event earned the Cards 3 points behind a 2:03.50 time.
Other top finishes for the Cardinals include Jacob Maclin with a 53.93 time in the 400m dash; a 2:10.87 finish for Christopher Papp in the 800m run, and a 5.92m jump for Greg Daley in the long jump.
