Women’s Track & Field Opens Indoor Season at Ursinus

WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America women's track & field team began its indoor season on Saturday at Ursinus' Bowtie Classic. The Cardinals finished ninth in a field of 12 teams.

Senior Danielle Caruccio was victorious for the Cardinals in the 400-meter dash as she sprinted to a time of 1:02.59.

Caruccio also posted a bronze performance in the 200-meter dash as she crossed the finish line in 27.58. The Cardinals also had two top-10 performances in the event as juniors Eileen McAlonan and Lauren Haynes finished sixth and ninth, respectively.

Sophomore Andrea Galeano, who earned All-Landmark honors in her freshman year in the outdoor season, started her second season with a sixth-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 10.33 meters.

Catholic now breaks for the exams and the new semester but returns to action in 2017 at the Lebanon Valley Invitational on Friday, January 20.
