Caruccio and Galeano Set Season-Best Marks at CNU

WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America women's track & field team enjoyed a strong meet at Christopher Newport on Saturday afternoon as all-conference performers Danielle Caruccio and sophomore Andrea Galeano set season-best marks. 

Caruccio put up her fastest time of the year in the 200-meter dash at the Vince Brown Invite as she crossed the finish line in 27.05, good for 14th overall. She also went on to take seventh in the 400 with a time of 1:00.63.

Galeano improved her program and conference record in the weight throw as she went for a distance of 15.72 meters to take the silver at CNU.

Junior Justine Piraino captured one of Catholic's top finishes as she took the silver in the 1,600 with a time of 5:54.25.

Sophomore Theresa Matula posted a top-20 performance in the 800 as she posted a time of 2:32.11. She also finished 15th in the mile at 5:37.73.

Next up, the Cardinals travel to Dickinson on Saturday, February 11, for the Ducharme Invitational.
