WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America women's track & field team opened its 2017-18 indoor schedule on Saturday at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational with several strong individual performances.
Junior Grace Boras set a new school record in the 60-meter dash as she sped to a time of 8.42 seconds, good for 18th overall.
Rookie Schola Eburuoh one her first career event in her first-ever met as she cleared 5-feet-3 inches in the high jump and was just inches off the all-time Cardinal mark. She also won the triple jump at 11.12 meters which did set the new school record. She capped her day with a ninth-place finish in the long jump at 4.81 meters.
Senior Kiera Lyons finished eighth overall in the 5,000 and missed a program record by six seconds with a time of 18:27.50, which was nearly 20 seconds faster than her seeded time.
Freshman Abby Grabowski also showed her speed as she went 27.91 in the 200-meters and placed 12th. Grabowski also went on to take eighth place in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.82 seconds.
Fellow rookie Victoria Carlini added a top-15 finish in her first career meet as she crossed the finish line in the 800 with a time of 2:42.81.
Catholic will now take a break for finals and the holiday season before resuming its schedule in 2018 at the Christopher Newport Captains Invite on Saturday, January 20.
