Stengle Takes First in Javelin and Shot Put at Roanoke Invitational

ROANOKE, VA. (March 19, 2005) -- Kim Stengle led the Catholic University women's track team as they competed Saturday  in Virginia at the Roanoke Invitational, which featured 11 universities including schools from Maine and New Hampshire.

Stengle, a sophomore, delivered an outstanding performance surpassing CUA's record in the javelin by an entire foot. Her 119 foot throw landed her a first place finish in the javelin in addition to first place in the shot put and third in the hammer throw. Overall, Stengle scored 30 of the 48 points for the team.  

In other performaces, sophomore Kate Milazzo claimed sixth place in the triple jump. And on the track, speedy sophomores Kristin Prier placed fourth in the 55-meter hurdles and Noel Burnsearned a fourth place finish in the 400M. Cross country standout freshman Samantha McClellan represented CUA  placing and scoring 5th in the 800M.
