Cards Compete at University of Maryland
COLLEGE PARK, Md.- The Catholic University women's track and field squad competed in its first indoor meet of the 2006 season Saturday at the University of Maryland. The Cardinals faced a majority of D-I opponents in the unscored event but were able to place in the top 15 in a number of events.
Senior All-CAC performer Kim Stengle (Matawan, N.J./Old Bridge) was the top individual athlete for CUA placing 13th in the weight throw with a toss of 42-00.5. She also took 25th (35-00.25) in the shot put. The distance medley relay, comprised of all CUA cross cross country runners, took ninth in a time of 13:27.
Jenna Hackett (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) had a solid day placing 25th in the 1600 coming in at 5:50 as well as 23rd in the 3000 with a time of 11:15.51. Kelly Szal (Massapeqa Park, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) was 26th in the long jump and 40th in the 60 meter hurdles in a time of 14:00.3.
CUA will travel to the Lebanon Valley College Invite next weekend in Annville, Pa.
