Stengle Earns Outstanding Field Performer at Mason Dixon
Team places fifth overall


SALISBURY, Md.- Senior Kim Stengle (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) was named the Outstanding Field Performer at the Mason Dixon Conference Championships on Saturday.  The Cards took fifth overall scoring 53 points to conclude a long week of final exams.

Stengle had two firsts and also posted a second place finish for the afternoon.  She took first in both the hammer throw (42.75m) and javelin (120') while placing second in the shot put (37'10 ¾).  Also in the field, Kelly Szal (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) was second in the triple jump with a 32'10 and Kristen Kennedy (Great Falls, Va./Kolbe Academy) took third in the high jump making 4'11".

On the track, Jenna Hackett (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) was fifth in the 5,000 running a 19:17.59.  The 400 meter relay team was less than a second away of qualifying for ECAC action finishing sixth with a 52.7.  The squad was made up of Kennedy, Szal, Annie George (Forest Hill, Md./C. Milton Wright) and freshman Michelle Spadaro (Stony Point, N.Y./Albertus Magnus).

Stengle is the lone Cardinal that will move on to the ECAC Championships.  She has qualified in all four throwing events.
