Szal Wins Triple Jump at Lebanon Valley
ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Catholic University women's track and field squad had a good day at the Lebanon Valley Invitational Saturday in Pennsylvania. The Cards had five athletes finish in the top ten as well as a second place finish for the 4x800 relay (10:55.87).
Kelly Szal was the athlete of the meet for CUA with three trips into the top ten including a first place finish in the triple jump with a 9.70 meters to her credit. Szal was also fifth in the long jump with a 4.56 and made it to the finals in the 55 meter hurdles running a 9.63 for sixth place overall.
The Cards had a number of other top ten performers as well. Newcomer Nwakaego Ekwuabu took fifth in the shot put throwing it 8.67 meters. Jenna Hackett was seventh in the mile running a 6:01.16 while Mary Shashaty took eighth in the 800 with a 2:40.30. Kristen Johnson competed in the long jump and was eighth jumping 4.28 meters.
The Cardinals will compete next weekend at the Ursinus Invitational in Collegeville, Pa.
