Cardinals Take Eighth at Colden Invitational
Ball and Shashaty take third and fourth in the 1,000
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Catholic University women's track and field squad scored 25 points at the Frank Colden Invitational at Ursinus College this past weekend. CUA's total was good enough for an eighth place finish out of 16 squads. Johns Hopkins won the meet with 115 points.
The Cardinals had five individual top ten finishes in the competition. The women's highlight came in the 1,000 meter run where sophomore Remy Ball (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) finished third with a 3:21.52 and junior Mary Shashaty (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) came in right behind her with a fourth place finish in a time of 3:23.31.
Other top ten finishes came in both running and field events. Rachel Won was sixth in the 55 meter hurdles finals where she ran a 9.41. Jenna Hackett (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) took eighth in the 800 with a time of 2:41.40. Rounding out the scorers was Nwakaego Ekwuabu in the shot put where she threw a 30-01.25.
The Cardinals will be at Christopher Newport University next weekend for their invitational meet on Saturday.
